FIRST PENANCE & FIRST HOLY COMMUNION SACRAMENTS
Saint John Cathedral registered parishioners with second grade children, who have been baptized into the Catholic faith, will be eligible to register their child to receive the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Church. Registration for these sacraments is required for all candidates. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion usually takes place a couple of weeks following Easter Sunday. Please note that children enrolled in Catholic schools will not receive these sacraments at school or with their class. It is Diocesan policy that our Catholic school students receive these sacraments in the church parish in which their family is registered.

Canonical policy states that sacraments are to be administered in one’s home church parish of registration.

My child’s family is not registered in any church parish, but we attend Mass at St. John Cathedral. Is it possible for my child to make First Sacrament at St. John Cathedral?
