Event Details

Announcing a very special performance on April 29, 2018, by the Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist.

Les Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie is a youth choir from the Acadian Region of Canada celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a once in a lifetime tour of Acadiana. The 50 member choir, ages 10 to 14, will sing at a French Mass to be celebrated by Bishop Douglas Deshotel at 11:00am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, La.

Nearly 50 years ago, Sister Lorette Gallant formed a choir of young voices that would carry the Acadian flag to the four corners of the world. Founded in 1969 as the Aberdeen Choir and renamed Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie in 1972, this choir has built an international reputation.

The Jeunes Chanteurs d’Acadie choir is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide children in our community with a unique and enriched cultural experience through the study and performance of choral music that remains accessible to all children regardless of their socio-economic status.

Everyone is invited to attend and be part of this once in a lifetime event celebrating the strong ties between the Acadian community of Canada and their Louisiana cousins.
